Port Clinton, OH Outreach Meeting!

Hello from American Promise-Port Clinton, OH!

Are you following the news about big and dark money in the 2018 elections? Or perhaps you are working on an important issue but find that undisclosed money inferferes with reasonable solutions. Maybe you have been reading our Facebook page about the far-flung influence of money in our government decision-making. Do you feel angry? Interested? Discouraged? Helpless? Energized?

Whether your issue is climate change, the health of Lake Erie, the opioid crisis, affordable healthcare, gun safety, income inequality, or unfair elections, we have an opportunity for you. We want to meet you, talk to you, explore the problem, and discuss solutions. A working democracy needs active citizens. We want you to get involved.

We are excited to invite you to our free event, fully focused on talking about getting big money out of politics and governing, so that citizens like us can regain our influence toward change. Our local American Promise group is raising awareness of this issue in Ohio. We have developed relationships with the offices of Congresswoman Kaptur, Senator Brown, and Senator Portman. We are publishing letters to the editor, providing testimony to the Ohio legislature, presenting to local groups, and reaching out to candidates of all political parties. Last month, two of our members participated in the American Promise town hall meeting in Columbus to get citizens' viewpoints on this problem. The ultimate goal of American Promise is a 28th amendment to the constitution but there are many steps along the way. And we need you!

So come on out, ask questions, discuss solutions, and meet a group of citizen leaders already active in Ottawa County.
